Last Saturday, November 5ht on Your Preparation Station I just had to get a few things out in the open about the preparedness movement! Some things have been irking me and it was just time for this hostess to SOAP BOX a tad!
Seriously, of course I have concerns with society, but my concerns with the preparedness movement are that signs are beginning to show that there are some folks in the movement that are acting out of motives that are not helpful TO the movement. I’m concerned with how we as preppers are labeled and what we might be doing to contribute to the negative view.
What are we getting right?
.
What are we getting wrong?
.
What should we look out for even among our ‘fellow preppers?’
.
What should we be doing to help others see we are not really weirdos?
The radio show link below will play the recording of some strong talk and options from a typically laid back host. But, it’s time for some tough love, though. If we’re going to be effective and be taken seriously.

Popular Questions
What does a little venting while on my soap box mean?
It means taking a brief opportunity to express strong opinions, frustrations, or concerns about an issue that matters to you. The “soap box” wording suggests a candid, passionate statement rather than a formal argument. Keep the message focused by identifying the issue, explaining why it matters, and avoiding personal attacks.
How can I make a little venting while on my soap box constructive?
State the problem clearly and support your point with a specific example instead of relying only on emotion. Explain what change, response, or solution you would like to see. Before publishing, remove insults and exaggerations so the venting invites discussion rather than escalating conflict.
When is a little venting while on my soap box appropriate?
A short public vent can be appropriate when you want to call attention to a recurring frustration or encourage people to think about an overlooked concern. Choose a setting where the audience can reasonably engage with the subject, and avoid sharing private details about identifiable individuals. If you are too angry to communicate clearly, pause and revise the message before posting it.
